Lakers vs Celtics - NBA Finals!
June 3, 2008
Last year at this time if anyone told me the Lakers and Celtics would be clashing for the 2008 NBA title I would’ve told them they were crazy. Yet, here we are on the cusp of what will likely be the most exciting NBA finals series in years.
Not since the Magic/Kareem vs Bird/McHale series in 1987 have these two giants in NBA history met in the finals. The Lakers & Celtics met in the NBA finals in 1984, ‘85, and ‘87. The Boston Celtics won it in ‘84, and the Lakers won it in both ‘85 and ‘87. The 1960’s were good years for the Celtics, who beat the Lakers in the finals 6 times in this decade alone. [Read more]
Hornets vs Spurs - Game 3
May 9, 2008
A big night from Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili helped the San Antonio Spurs come up with a game 3 win against Chris Paul and his News Orleans Hornets. With Parker and Ginobili dropping 31 points apiece, the Spurs were able to prevent themselves from going down 0-3 in the Western Conference Semifinals. Instead, they were able to bring the series to 2-1 with a chance to tie it up at home on Sunday.
Despite starting the game down 8-0, the Spurs closed the gap to end the first quarter down 23-21. With just seconds remaining in the first half, the Spurs Bruce Bowen hit a 3 pointer and Manu Ginobili hit a jumper at the buzzer to stay within 2 going into halftime. David West and Chris Paul accounted for 30 of the Hornets first half points and led 56-54 going into the third quarter. Bet the NBA Playoffs at the Bodog Sportsbook!

After breaking both front ankles, veterinarians decided there was no other option, as the filly had no front legs to stand on and was in obvious pain. On one side of the track there were celebrations for the winner Big Brown. On the other side of the track there was despair as Eight Belles was put to rest only minutes after placing at the biggest horse race in the world.
There have been arguments made by the Humane Society of the United States which claim that todays race horses are not being bred properly. Apparently, these breeding problems stem form horses being trained for speed, not durability. ”There are problems coming to light more than ever — problems related to breeding,” said Wayne Pacelle, Humane Society president. “Breeding too many horses, and waiting for someone else to clean up the problem. And breeding them for body characteristics that make these animals vulnerable … especially those spindly legs on top of these stout torsos.” [Read more]

Here we go again, another saga in the Roger Clemens soap opera. If you haven’t yet heard about the Roger Clemens affair, here’s the dirt. According to the NY Daily News, country singer Mindy McCready has confirmed that she had a 10 year long affair with The Rocket. Although to nobody’s surprise Roger “flatly denies” having a sexual relationship with McCready. Mindy McCready told the Daily News “I cannot refute anything in the story”, in regards to the affair. She went on to say “He’s a kind and caring man. He’s also a legendary athlete. The central topic in the debate, however, regards his professional life, not his personal life.”There are legal matters working their way through the system that have nothing to do with me. From my point of view, that is where the focus should remain.” [Read more]
